IIM Rohtak has introduced a BBA LL.B. course. It is a five-year Integrated Programme in Law (IPL), available for students after class XII, and will be a combination of legal education and business management. The Programme will take place at the IIM Rohtak extension campus in Gurugram.
Apart from the usual courses which are taught in a 5-year law program (such as domestic law, international law, arbitration etc.), the students will also learn about business management, international affairs, humanities, public policy, and foreign languages.
As per the official website, the programme consists of 15 terms over five years, that is three terms a year. Each term is three months long. As with the integrated law courses, this course will also not allow for splitting of the integrated programme or allow graduate students to join mid-way.
The admission criteria slightly unique. The candidate would be evaluated based on the following weightage: 45% on CLAT marks, 40% on X and XII Marks, and 15% on the personal interview.
Students need atleast 60% (General/NC-OBC/EWS)/ 55% (SC/ST/PWD) in X and XII.
There is also an age criteria. Students cannot be older than 20 as of July 31, 2021.
One of the biggest talking points of the course is that the fee is 37.62 lakhs for the total course. An amount of around 2 lakhs is there for additional charges and deposits (for books, placement, etc.). (It is unclear whether this is included in the 37 lakhs.) Even national law universities, which have also been chided for being expensive, costs around 12 lakhs for five years.
The application form for ILP costs INR 3890.
